Time for an exciting update for the comic I’ve been working on all year! I’m thrilled to announce that the talented Soleil Ho is joining me as a cowriter on Meal, the insect restaurant romance graphic novel that’ll be published by Iron Circus Comics in 2018!
Soleil’s a pro when it comes to preparing and writing about food, and the book is better for the work she’s putting into it. Can’t wait to show you folks the finished thing next year!
I’ve got a busy May ahead of me, with 3 conventions!
First up, I am returning to TCAF this weekend, May 13 – 14, at the Toronto Reference Library. You can find O Human Star stuff on the 2nd floor, table 244, with Joamette Gil!
I’m also thrilled to announce that I’m gonna be on my first ever TCAF panel: 21st Century Webcomics with Tom Spurgeon, Matt Lubchansky, Priya Huq, and Michael Deforge. (!!!) That’s gonna be on Saturday the 13th, 2:45 pm, in the High Park Ballroom at the Marriott Bloor-Yorkville.
Next, I’m going to be tabling at VanCAF, in the Roundhouse in Vancouver, on May 20th and 21st! I’ll be at table D12, within spitting distance of a lot of pals, and I’ll be on a panel on Saturday at 12:30 about comics and food, with Sarah Becan, Jade Feng Lee, Levi Hastings, and Becca Tobin. I’ll see you there!
And finally, I will be in the Dealer’s Room at WisCon 41, from May 25 to the 29th, in Madison, Wisconsin! This is a brand new show for me and I’m excited to see what the fabled WisCon is like. So keep an eye out for me!

The news is out today: I am going to be writing and illustrating a new graphic novel to be published by Iron Circus Comics! Here’s the official blurb:
The irrepressible Yarrow McMurray is a woman on a mission: A mission to put bugs in your burgers. Worms in your stir-fry. Maggots in your… muesli?
Sure. Why not.
In short, Yarrow eats bugs. And cooks bugs! And loves bugs. Inspired and driven on her quest by short-tempered guiding force and employer Chanda Flores, she won’t rest until everybody else feels the same way, including her skeptical girlfriend Milani Spence.
Written in the spirit of classic food and cooking manga like Drops of God,Cooking Master Boy and Yakitate!! Japan, Blue Delliquanti, author of the critically acclaimed and Lambda Literary Award-nominated O Human Star, plans to bring Meal to ICC and adventurous readers in 2017!
Keep up with all future updates on this book at mealcomic.com! I can not wait to make headway on this.
Hello, Seattle! I’ll be returning to Emerald City this week from Thursday the 7th to Sunday the 10th and tabling at F5 with my pal Kiku Hughes (aka geniusbee!). Come get OHS Volume One, OHS magnets, and a few other goodies! See my brand new haircut!!!
Thanks to everyone who attended DINK this past weekend! O Human Star Volume One won two of the convention’s inaugural awards: Best Self-Published Work and the attendee-voted Best In Show. This is a huge honor and I’m still kind of reeling from it. Thank you for your votes and your support!
Cool news! This week, O Human Star Volume One was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award in the LGBT Graphic Novels category, and the Denver Independent Comic and Art Expo’s DINKy Awards in the Best Work – Self Published and Outstanding Work – Diversity categories. The winners will be announced for all three awards later this year – thanks for the nominations!
