Upcoming May 2025 events!

I’m excited to announce that after doing some Twin Cities events in April, I’ve got some fun stuff coming up in May as well!

This weekend, if you are in Seattle (and an adult!), you can see some of my favorite pages of Adversary on display at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival! My friend (and Cartoonist Coop colleague) Nero Villagallos O’Reilly has spearheaded the exhibit COMIXXX: Between the Gutters, which features prints and original comic pages by some of the best cartoonists working right now, like Jon Cairns, EK Weaver, and InnkeeperWorm. I won’t be there in person, unfortunately, but I had a great conversation with the docents about my work, so any visitors will have a fun experience learning about what comics can do with this kind of storytelling.

I am also participating in the Cartoonist Cooperative’s Nib and Ink Festival (NIF), which is running through the entire month of May. Much like other digital festivals I’ve participated in, I’ve got a digital comic up in the shop (“Love Triangulation”), but there are a lot of excellent comics by Coop members in there and I encourage you to browse. The Coop Journal continues to post interviews (which I’ve been co-editing) with NIF participants every day, so if you pick up something you really enjoy, see if you can find their interview!

I will also be participating in two panels, which you can watch live on the Coop’s Youtube channel or on Zoom the day of.

First, on May 11 (3 pm CST), Kel McDonald and I are on “Having Fun with Backgrounds,” where we put our experience in environment design and setting development into the context of making a comic.

Then, on May 24 (12 pm CST), I’m joining Jessi Eoin, Ashanti Fortson, Jasmine Walls, and Kody Okamoto for “Beginning to End: A Creative Process Conversation.” We’re discussing our approaches to ideating and executing our ideas to make a finished comic.
